Mountain Food Products was founded by owner Ron Ainspan in 1984 as a way to sell produce for local farmers. After realizing Asheville needed a local produce distribution company to meet the quickly growing needs of the food scene, Ron began to branch out and offered some of his first customers at Marketplace and Grove Park Inn a variety of items. Keeping the original values of supporting local growers, Mountain Food Products has always cherished it’s relationships with local farmers by offering an array of local produce to it’s hundreds of accounts across western North Carolina. During the height of the growing season, you will find many offerings coming from Asheville area growers including tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, beans, and more. After several years of growth and seeing the importance of the connections made with local farmers and the community, Mountain Foods decided to branch out and offer a multi-farm CSA program utilizing the growers the company had built connections with over the years.
